World COPD Day is an annual awareness-raising event, held each November. It is organized by the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD). The event is also supported by ICC and many ICC member organizations around the world participate, organizing educational and awareness-raising activities in their home countries.
On World COPD Day 2010, ICC is issuing a call for submissions for a new project, our Evidence-Based Resource Center on COPD. The goal of this project is to create a collection of COPD therapies, devices, and types of care, and to evaluate these COPD resources drawing on the latest scientific research.
We also want to encourage health care professionals, government agencies, and patient advocacy groups to think more broadly about what helps patients with COPD—emphasizing the importance of pharmacologic therapy for the disease, but also including devices such as those used for oxygen therapy, and recognizing the importance of other interventions such as pulmonary rehabilitation for improving patients’ quality of life.
Do you have an idea for a resource that should be included in our project? Please let us know.
